of ideas grown on sleepless planes
flares to life. Winged worms dig
holes through midnight clouds, pray
for moonlight eruption, fail triumphantly.
Electric sheep are raised in replacement,
potential false idols
to worship. Their glow is stagnant,
but constant. We make do,
pantomiming warmth and comfort.
We fool no one
but ourselves. We are
just another surface for shadows
to cling to, waiting for dawn to come
and spare us for another day.
